A traditional zafu comes from the Japanese Zen Buddhist tradition. This special meditation cushion has been used for centuries during zazen, or sitting meditation. The cushion is designed to tilt the pelvis slightly so that you can sit upright and stable without effort. It helps to keep your spine straight and reduce tension in the hips and knees. This Zafu is made from 100% organic hemp from our own brand Yogitri. It is known for its high-quality finish, ergonomic comfort and stylish appearance. This cushion is designed for both beginners and advanced practitioners of meditation, yoga and mindfulness. 

High-quality materials
Yogitri consciously chooses sustainable, natural materials. The cover of the meditation cushion is made of organic hemp with a beautiful visible structure, giving it a wonderful natural look. The cushion is filled with organic buckwheat hulls, which provides a firm, adaptable filling that moulds to your body.

Refillable content
Buckwheat can be refilled or adjusted as desired via a concealed zip on the inside. This cushion does not have an inner cushion.

Using the Zafu                                                                                                            
The zafu is a beautiful meditation cushion that sits low on the floor. It is suitable for traditional Zen sitting positions such as the full lotus (Kekka-Fuza), half lotus (Hanka-Fuza) and seiza (on the knees). The Sukhasana or Burmese sitting position is also possible with this cushion. The Zafu was made by monks in the Zen tradition. It was part of their practice of mindfulness, patience and a calm mind. Every stitch was part of their meditation.
